“Plexr™ ; a revolutionary technology in the field of non-surgical aesthetic medicine is now available at Tracey Bell Liverpool and Isle of Man. For the first time in the history of the aesthetic industry we are now able to remove excess skin in a non-surgical, minimally invasive fashion. The utilization of a controlled micro-beam of plasma to superficial layers of skin allows trained hands to perform multitude of procedures such as upper and lower eyelid lifts, mini face-lifts, and the removal of wrinkles, unsightly scars, stretch marks and even tattoos. And all of this without the use of scalpel or sutures that so predominated previous attempts at beautification. It’s no wonder that Plexr™ was a top finalist for Product Innovation of the Year and came Highly Commended at the 2015 Aesthetic Awards. The procedure is virtually pain-free, takes a few minutes and leaves the patient with no visible down-time. Swelling is also minimized and optimal results are achieved within 1 to 3 sessions, depending on the amount of skin that needs to be removed. In a world where emphasis is placed on Anti-aging, this device actually treats the effects of aging. Wrinkles that are deep would also benefit from such technology, where toxins and fillers become ineffective. Treatments are problem-orientated and result in long-term solutions for aging, where previous concepts only camouflaged the symptoms of aging. The specifics of this technology epitomize the ideals that a select few modern doctors Plexr practices, which is the goal to provide excellent long-term results through minimally invasive actions”
The Plexr treatments are available in our Liverpool City Centre (Liverpool One) practice and Isle Of Man practices.

How Does the treatment work?
PLEXR causes sublimation which is the procedure of turning a solid straight into a gas, therefore results are instant and there is no heat transported to surrounding tissues so no damage is caused to normal skin. PLEXR uses plasma, therefore there is no power-driven current which can cause problems for some patients and the treatments result in tissue withdrawal and tightening which gives even better results.
Plexr is an innovative medical device that was developed in Italy as an alternative to surgery. It uses the ionisation of the gases in the air to form plasma, which creates a small electrical arc that treats problem areas – without spreading unwanted heat to the surrounding skin, called “soft surgery”. With the help of portable hand piece, Dr Bell marks a small grid to create a retraction of the skin in the eyelid area by creating combustion of the skin corneocytes, without damaging the surrounding tissue. This creates fine grey-brown scales, so-called “carbon dust”, which disappear a few days after each session.
It is carried out under topical anesthesia (no needles) and can be used for numerous aesthetic concerns, treating loose facial skin, scarring, and to perform blepharoplasty and brow lifts.
Plexr can treat a vast number of indications and it’s probably the most versatile tool in aesthetic dermatology today.

Pre Procedure instructions
Please ensure you are at your appointment at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time. An anesthetic cream needs to be applied to the area which will be treated.
Post Procedure instructions
This should be the daily routine specific to the area that is treated. This routine should be carried out for approximately a month and a half after the treatment, to ensure healthy healing and protection of the new skin that is forming. In some individuals this process can be prolonged due to slow healing factors innate to their own skin repairing abilities. For the first few days Ice can be applied to sensitive and swollen areas. Protect and keep the skin dry when applying ice for 10 min every hour as needed. Rinse and clean gently with hard castile soap and water (not liquid or cleansing soap). Blot dry with cotton napkin (not gauze, hard towel). Disinfect eyelids or treatment areas around the eyes with Safyr bleu eyedrops 3 times daily, apply with fingertip not gauze.
Apply Liquid foundation (Bionike) – dot blot, no blending +/- 1 mm, thick. no cosmetics. This must be done up to 3-4 times a day to ensure proper coverage and protection. The carbonaceous scabs must be covered completely as to prevent any UVA/UVB penetration that will cause the newly forming skin to darken. After Scabs have fallen off – new skin (soft pink) will have formed. To promote healing apply zinc oxide cream at night until the skin colour has returned to its normal shade. Do not apply any creams, antibiotic creams, or cortisone creams over the treated areas. The crust can remain up to 20 days but usually falls off by 5-7 days.
Cover the area with liquid foundation until the pink area has disappeared +/- 1.5 to 2.
what is soft surgery?
GMV, the manufacturers of Plexr, coined the term “Soft Surgery” to describe their device because it delivers surgical results, but with no scalpel, wounds or stitches, no bandages and minimal downtime. It implies minimally invasive procedures, with lower risk and at a more affordable price.
What can I anticipate after the treatment?
Results can vary – it all depend on the preferred result, harshness of skin tolerance or size of the lesion, any prevailing medical or skin problems and overall condition of the skin. Little reddish brown spots appear where the plasma beam has been applied to the skin. Reduction in skin creases appear instantly. Small scabs for on the skin once the treatment is over. They start to fall off after 3-4 days after treatment. Some swelling happens around the area that has been treated and this needs to have ice applied to it. As often as possible! The treated area will be tender during the healing process. The scabs that form must be allowed to fall off on their own, no scratching or picking of scabs is allowed otherwise scarring or infection may occur. When drying the area, don’t rub, only pat. Once totally healed, the result is permanent.
Is the treatment painful?
A local anesthetic cream is applied for 30 minutes before treatment to minimize any discomfort. The procedure is then essentially painless. For some areas, local anaesthetic cream or injections may be utilised to ensure numbness. The treatment may feel hot in places and there may be a tingling or burning sensation afterwards. PLEXR plasma technology has been used worldwide for several years with no significant contrary measures.
Are there any side effects of treatment?
Following PLEXR treatment, the treated area will be red and warm instantly after the procedure and there will be tenderness for a couple of days. Patients may experience a tingling or burning sensation. Little dark brown spots will appear or there might even be a look more typical of a burn. Swelling is common and often lasts several days.
Swelling can be quite significant around the eye area. Scabs develop and its very important to keep this area clean and dry. If the area becomes red, hot and painful and if there is any discharge, it is important to contact your Healthcare Practitioner as this there might be an infection.
